JASMIN + JARRYD // POINT WALTER WEDDING
What made you decide to invest in wedding videography?
We wanted someone to capture the atmosphere and actual feel of the day. We know photography does that but it captures a still moment in time and we feel like we want the fun of our day to come through. We aren't serious people so we wanted a record of the day that captured who we are and how we just had a great time.
Why did you choose Castle Media?
Alan recommended you and we love your work. We also think that what you offer is great value and we wanted a complete record of the ceremony and all the key events, as well as the edited film. We loved your films like Chloe & Luke's and how the vows overlaid the film. Recently we liked Emily & Logan's and how the music was upbeat.
What do you do?..How do you spend your days?..What's important in life?
Jasmin is a lawyer and Jarryd works in operations at Virigin Australia so we have pretty stressful jobs. We love being outside in the garden or walking by the river near our home. We value family and hard work but also having a good time. We have always viewed our wedding as a big party.
We love to have fun, and aren't gushy romantics. Our idea of a great day is spending it together - the where and what don't really matter.
The proposal ...Tell me everything...
Jarryd ordered a custom ring from Melbourne but it was lost in the post. He was incredibly stressed but Jasmin just thought it was the usual stresses of work. Eventually it arrived and he had planned a proposal at a little gazebo in Clifton Park where Jasmin grew up and where they spent their first valentine's day. Unfortunately there were a few delays on leaving Perth and the sun was about to set so he pulled over on the estuary not too far from where Jasmin grew up and suggested they take a photo of the sunset. Jasmin wasn't suspecting and said sure (loves a good sunset photo) and got out. She was taking photos when Jarryd said "Jasmin". She turned around and he dropped to a knew and popped the question. Before he finished she blurted out yes. She was completely in shock although had been dropping serious hints for years by this point (6.5 years into the relationship). They got back in the car and called Jasmin's parents. They then drove over to Jarryd's parents' house where they had champagne ready. The next day they went down south and after a quick stop in Busselton and Dunsborough, spent the weekend at Caves House in lockdown (Covid-19 case).
The venue? Why Point Walter above anywhere else?
Point Walter is nice and relaxed, it isn't pretending to be something it isn't, it isn't pretentious, and it is on the river where we love to be. Fremantle was our favourite date spot early on in our relationship and we love being there.
What experience do you want to give your guests?
We want them to have fun! We aren't super traditional and just want people to have a great time: eating, drinking and dancing.
