HANNAH + DALE // LEWANA COTTAGES WEDDING
What made you decide to invest in wedding videography?

Hannah and I umm-ed and ahh-ed about it for a long time, to the point where we were thinking about it so much we realised that if we didn't it we would regret it.
Once we made the decision it was clear it was the right one, as a video was a way to capture the nuances of the day (we were told that it goes by so quickly so having a record of it for years to come would be nice). A video is also a really nice way to capture our loved ones especially Hannah's grandparents, our parents and our friends - as a kind of time capsule.
We also learnt from our friends that it is a really nice thing to revisit every few years (anniversary's etc)

Why did you choose Castle Media?

Once we made the decision that we were going to look into a videographer, we asked around for a quote to try and find out what was involved. I found one, Hannah deep diving through the internet found you, emailed you at some ungodly hour and you replied. Within a day we had looked at a bunch of your stuff on your website and had a call scheduled, we met you, and it all went well and it was done within 48 hours haha!

What do you do?..How do you spend your days?..What's important in life?

What do we do: Hannah is a social worker. She does aged care assessments to help support elderly people to spend more time within their home. I am an Industrial/ Organisational Psychologist, I work with organisation's to refine processes to be more effective and ensure that the things that need to be done gets done correctly and with the least burden for the employee.
How do we spend our days: Hannah and I are quite social, we spend a lot of time with friends and family. We both play mixed netball during the week and I also play basketball. We have a dog, Moose, who we like to take out on adventures. Hannah likes being outside and gardening, I am more of an inside body, I like to read and listen to music. We both like to cook, go an see live music, look at cool stuff on YouTube. We work periodically through TV shows in the evenings. The Office, is something that is on high rotation. We also pick a series and watch a couple of episodes on a Sunday, Yellowstone and Friday night lights were some standouts over the last little while.

The proposal...

I was trying to think of when a good time would be to pop the question, this was answered when Hannah was traveling to see her family in Canada for a month in September 2023. So asking before the trip become the plan - something she could share with her family over there. We had organized a lunch the week before Hannah was due to leave with my folks and hannah's down south to catch up before the trip. Hannah's folks have a little hobby farm in Kirup and in the neighbours paddock behind their house is a big hill with a tree on the summit. Time, location - set.
A week before, Hannah's mum called me to let me know that the neighbour had moved his bulls into the paddock next to their house. The thought of ending a proposal running away from a herd of bulls is less than ideal. So a week out we were in planning mode. Hannah's mum had a vision for a small out of the way part of the garden, on the far end of the property that could be set up and kept secret. So back up plan was sorted.
So the lunch went ahead, Hannah went inside to get something, and I convinced her to go for a little walk before rejoining the lunch with our families. I gave the nod to our mums letting them know that it was go time (as they were playing the rolls of photographer/videographer - from a distance). Hannah and I walked up to the spot that had been set up, i popped the question and we rejoined the lunch which suddenly had a lot more Champayne. A week later Hannah was off to Canada for 6 weeks.

The venue? Why Lewana Cottages above anywhere else?

Before we started looking for a venue we thought about the ideal things we wanted and the big things were a late curfew, we didnt want wedding to feel like it was just getting good and then everyone had to go come. We didnt want to have to worry about noise and somewhere beautiful, in nature.
Following a general theme, Hannah deep diving on the internet found Lewana. It was remote, in the forest, no curfew, all of our friends and family could stay on site - making in a local 'destination' wedding. The photos from around the area were amazing. It ticked every box we could of hoped for.

What experience do you want to give your guests?

The thing we kept coming back to was that we really wanted the day to be a big party, something fairly casual, no fuss, where everyone could have a really good time.
